Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) - 7 wondrous effects on stress and energy

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid).

Pantothenic acid, better known as vitamin B5, is a water-soluble vitamin. It supports the body's energy supply and plays an important role in building and breaking down proteins and fats. This makes B5 a real energy director in your metabolism and a helper for balance in body and soul.

What is vitamin B5 in?

Vitamin B5 is found in a wide range of foods:

  • Meat
  • Eggs
  • Whole grain products
  • Legumes
  • Milk and milk products
  • Fruit and vegetables

Supplements and fortified foods usually contain calcium pantothenate.

Functions of pantothenic acid

Pantothenic acid supports several processes in your body:

  • Releasing energy from fatty acids
  • Structure and breakdown of proteins and fats
  • Nervous system and energy support

How much do you need per day?

The Health Council has established an adequate intake, but the substantiation is weak: there is still little research and no scientific agreement on the exact requirement. Therefore, this counts more as a guideline than a strict standard.

Deficiency of vitamin B5

Deficiency rarely occurs. In exceptional cases (severe and prolonged deficiency), it may result in:

  • Burning or painful sensation in the feet
  • Reduced energy

Too much vitamin B5

An excess is virtually impossible through normal diet. Only extremely high supplement doses (tens of grams per day) can cause diarrhea.

Vitamin B5 and the soul ✨

Pantothenic acid supports life energy by converting fats and proteins into usable fuel. Energetically, it works on the solar plexus chakra, the center of strength, energy and self-confidence. Because it balances the build-up and breakdown of substances, B5 also helps symbolically in finding balance in your life: letting go of what no longer serves, and giving strength to new growth.
